Openreach Confirm WLR2 Withdrawal Date

After months of speculation, Openreach has now formally announced its planned timetable for the withdrawal of WLR2, including the Service Provider Gateway portal (SPG). This announcement is important as it sets the deadlines by which CP’s will need to migrate from WLR2 to WLR3. In line with Openreach’s previous commitments on WLR3, the migration will be completed over 3 stages, allowing CP’s plenty of time to plan and manage the process.

 

Openreach Timetable for WLR2 Withdrawal

Stage 1
30 November 2009 - Openreach will no longer accept new CP’s onto the WLR2 platform.

Stage 2
31 March 2011 - Openreach will no longer accept new orders via the WLR2 Service Provider Gateway.

Stage 3
30 June 2011 - Openreach will no longer provide access to the Service Provider Gateway.

 

AKJ is now in the final stages of developing our integrated WLR3 solution for digital lines, and we already have tens of thousands of lines fully operational on WLR3. We are therefore pleased to announce that we are now commencing the planning process for migrating our customers from WLR2 to WLR3. To help our customers to better understand the process and the benefits of migrating to WLR3, AKJ will also shortly be announcing two AKJ seminars on WLR3 to be held with Openreach during June/July (details to follow shortly).
